A newly built farmhouse tucked into the fields of Sabhawala, where the loudest sound is usually a bird. Come stay a while with family or friends.
Yellow Farm sits a little outside Dehradun, past the point where the roads go quiet and the fields take over. The house is new — every room built with real rest in mind — and the land around it grows a good part of what lands on your plate. There's a caretaker on hand for whatever you need, and otherwise, nothing much to do here except slow down.
Every room comes with air conditioning, a proper bed, and a table and chair for whoever needs to get a bit of work done. Each has its own attached washroom, and a few open onto a private balcony looking out over the garden and the fields beyond.
A handful of rooms face straight into the tree line, so the first thing you see in the morning is green, not a wall. Big windows, soft light, and enough quiet that you'll actually want to be up early.
Downstairs, the living and dining area is where the group actually ends up — cards after dinner, chai in the afternoon, or just a spot to sit together before everyone drifts off to their rooms. Warm wood, tall ceilings, and a staircase that winds up to the terrace.
The kitchen is stocked and ready, but honestly, most guests just let us cook for them. Meals here are simple, homely, desi food — a good part of it grown right outside, organically, in our own garden.
A spiral staircase climbs up to a wide, open rooftop with fields on every side. We keep it clear for morning yoga, evening walks, or just sitting with the view once the sun's gone down.
We grow what we can on the property, without chemicals, and it makes its way into the kitchen — that's where the "yummy desi food" comes from. The hibiscus is just there to look nice.
No long tick-list of extras — just the things that make a few days here genuinely easy.
Every bedroom, cooled and comfortable through the year.
A table and chair in every room, for guests who need to log on.
Private, in every room, no sharing down the hall.
Desi food, made with produce from our own garden.
Hand your clothes over, get them back clean and folded.
Someone on the property around the clock, for anything you need.
Ready to use, if you'd rather cook for yourselves.
Open rooftop space, best used at sunrise.
Room to sit outside, walk around, or just do nothing.
We don't allow alcohol or smoking on the property — not as a rule for its own sake, but because it's part of what keeps this place peaceful. It's meant to feel like a home, not a party.
Neeru works in the corporate world by trade, but has spent a good part of her life travelling — she's been to many countries already, and Japan is next on the list. That same curiosity carries over into hosting: she's always glad to have new guests at Yellow Farm, and just as happy to learn something from whatever they bring with them.
The other host you'll meet is Shadow, our dog — unofficially in charge of morning greetings and general good cheer around the property.
Yellow Farm is in Sabhawala, on the outskirts of Dehradun — near enough to the city for an easy drive in, but far enough that the fields take over and things get quiet. Sheetla Mata Mandir is the nearest landmark if you're asking for directions along the way.
